The Great Trails State Conference

North Carolina's Year of the Trail campaign was a tremendous success. The NC General Assembly showed historic investment in trail throughout the state ($54.9 million). Trail events, hosted in over 90 counties from Cherokee to Dare, built public support for all types of trails (greenways, natural surface, equine, and paddle). The Great State Trails Conference builds upon this success by bringing together trail and greenway advocates, managers, planners, and users from throughout North Carolina. In September 2024, RRS and the Great Trails State Coalition hosted 350+ trail supporters over three days sharing best practices, economic development opportunities, and ideas for building public support.
